Making My Two-Gang Light Switch Smart

A small real-world step for Nexa, with the circuits and video notes I recorded along the way.

By Ali Emami

I wanted Nexa to do something outside the screen, so I started with the lights. I picked up a Wi-Fi two-gang smart switch that I could control with Python. While I was working on it, I took photos of the old and updated circuit and recorded a few quick video messages. Quick safety note: this involves mains electricity. The photos, diagrams, and clips are just notes from my project, not wiring instructions. Work like this should be checked and handled by a qualified electrician.

A few short video messages

I recorded these as I was working through the Nexa update. They're quick snapshots, not polished tutorials.

In the update I shared on October 14, I said Nexa was getting close to its final stage and that I was editing a longer walkthrough. I want that video to include the decisions and the unfinished bits too, not just the polished result. For now, this is one small step from the screen into the room. I still need to keep testing the switch and make sure Nexa's response stays clear and reliable.
